Minimum Salary: $190,000 - $240,000

Experience: 10 years of experience with Mechanical engineering and high volume manufacturing. Requires skills and experience to involve: Knowledge of tier 1 manufacturing rules and requirements. Demonstrated experience in transfer designs from initial prototype to mass production, particularly with a Tier 1 partner. Demonstrated experience in Mechanical engineering fundamentals: heat transfer, stress/strain, thermodynamics, vibration/shock, and beam bending. Demonstrated experience in Design for automotive stressors: automotive reliability, corrosion, chemical attack, ingress protection, thermal shock, vibration/shock, and EMI/EM. Demonstrated experience in Design for automotive industry: high volume part design, high volume assembly design, automotive supply chain, material selection, automotive assembly processes. Demonstrated experience in Design for automated mechanical assembly. Knowledge of LIDAR systems and other Autonomous/ADAS hardware.

Job duties: Mechanical design and analysis of components in Aurora's hardware kit, primarily our long range LIDAR system. This includes mechanical 3D and 2D drawings, component selection, hand calculations for mechanical/thermal analysis, and tolerance stack up analysis. Collaboration with our Tier 1 partner to ensure design rules and manufacturing criteria are met by all parts of the LIDAR and also broader hardware kit designs. Transfer of our design to high volume manufacturing including site visits with our supplier, design of experiments, root cause analysis, PFMEA review, process flow review and tooled part review.
